July 28th-- Words to her song! This was a birthday present, written by the talented Glenn Etter...(music video to come)

"
Amelie’s got that look in her eye
Amelie’s got that look in her eye
Amelie’s got that look in her eye
That says she's knows what's goin' on

Amelie is a wonderful girl
Who fills Brian and Alex with pride
She’s adorable like babies are
But she’s got another side

She likes to play with toys
Tupperware and pans
But she also solves equations
That Steven Hawking can’t understand…

Amelie’s got that look in her eye
Amelie’s got that look in her eye
Amelie’s got that look in her eye
That says she knows what’s goin’ on

She’s so sweet when she crawls and walks
She loves to go exploring
But while Alex changes her diaper
She finds solutions to Global warming

Sometimes she will giggle
If you squeeze her cheeks
And it’s cute when she translates her baby books
Into Russian, Spanish, and Greek

So, as Amelie would say
(chorus in Chinese)

You’ll fall in love with her twinkling eyes
And the charming laugh she’s got
She even coos so sweetly
when she’s building her next robot

Sometimes she is laughing
And other times she’s calm
If you could understand her baby talk
She could help you solve your issues…
with your dad and mom

 (chorus)

Well, I think the world should rest easy
Yeah, we got nothin’ to fear
Because Amelie’s taking care of things
As she finishes her first year

I don’t make predictions
I’m really not that bold
So I can’t imagine what she’ll be doin’
When she turns two years old

[chorus]

Image
July 1st-- her hair...is getting curly!

Image
June 30--Smooshyface!

Image

June 5th-- Amelie is now 14 months old! Wow!
She knows lots of words and concepts now.
Her new favorites words are bubble, backpack, towel, happy, hello (emphasis on the LLL), and wow! (she exclaims it a lot…wow, wow, wow!)

She LOVES to go outside – no matter where we go and no matter how we get there! When we get to the door and are on our way, sometimes she says “happy!”

Image
May 16th-- As Amelie grows and grows (she's now 95% of height and weight for her age!) so does her smarty-pants-ness!

Image
May 16th-- We moved to Portland! We've been here about 3 weeks and are still unpacking and settling in...and so far, we really like it here. I guess the beautiful springtime explosion couldn't hurt either! (it's gorgeous!) I've already found some mama friends and am starting a few classes with Amelie. We go for walks and get out a lot-- cause she is NOT a home body! We're pretty exhausted from the move, but all is well.

Image
March 30th--Amelie can talk up a storm these days. What she says most often is...mama, dada, duck, bath, ball, hi (she says a LOT and to everyone), bye-bye (she says usually after the person has left), hot (and she blows on her eggs), baah (like a sheep), oww (for meow like a cat), moo (like a cow), milk, ooo eee aaaa (like a monkey), whale (she says over and over in the bath) She's said other words on occasion and also a few word combinations like "hi mama" and "bye-bye dada". She also has quite a few Amelie-language words...and she seems to know exactly what they mean.

Image
March 28th-- HAPPY EASTER too! It was also my Birthday...we had a great Easter day with Amelie and colored eggs, had a brunch with friends, and had a babysitter so mom and dad could have a night out. What a day!

Image
March 28th--My favorite pictures...she loves the bath! She can say BATH in sign language after we only showed it to her a few times! What a smartie!
(picture taken with my fabulous new camera! woo!)

Image
March 28th--Walking:-)

Image
March 4th--We have a WALKER!! The little tiny baby that I carried for 10+ months...can now....WALK! Video to come soon...promise. We're so excited to see her toddle down the hall.  In other news: Amelie is still getting over her very bad case of Croup. Mom and Dad were very scared for a while there (and sick too!)...but we're all doing pretty well now.  And finally: Amelie is almost one whole year old!? How can that be?? We're having a party to celebrate her year on the planet...so if you want to come, let us know! Much Love!

Image
Feb 4th-- No Bear can resit that Amelie Charm

Image
February 2nd 2008!-- Where has the time gone...Amelie was a fairy for New Years Eve (8:00) countdown...and now suddenly it's February! Amelie is crawling around like crazy and still wants help walking around all the time. One of these days we'll post video, i know! We're starting to plan her 1st birthday bash...I can't believe she's almost been on this planet for a YEAR! Lucky US.

Image
December 24th--Amelie and Santa...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Image
December 19th--Poor Amelina, she has had a fever for two days...all because of some more teefers coming in! She already has 4 and it seems 2 more are poking through. Today she said a new word-- book! (word #4) She waves hello and goodbye, claps, and dances now too! She wasn't sure quite what to make of the christmas tree as we brought it in and set it up...she sat their for a long time looking at it and saying 'hmmm...hmm..." it was pretty adorable.

Image
December 7th--We usually wake up to Amelie moving around or making noise...yesterday...we woke up and looked over-- she was just sitting there looking at us! (she, apparently, gets to sitting position on her very own now! wow!)

Image
December 5th-- Amelie is now officially huge! She is 12 month size and has just turned 8 months! (happy 8 months Amelie!) She had a few growth spurts and there she is...tall as a willow, pudgy as a pug, and super crazy smart. This girl really looks to see how things work and notices everything.
She also loves to be carried in her sling and to keep moving!
She's crawling but she'd rather walk...she can't wait to be able to walk. She's eating lots of solids now. She loves guacamole, egg yolks, mama's homemade soups, and oatie-o's especially! She's not as much a fan os sweet things-- she often even snubs the bananas and apples...pheeeh!

Image
November 22nd--HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
We have SO much to be thankful for. Hope your day is equally as joyful.

Image
November 21st-- Note to those who have been supporting us throughout this amazing and so difficult time of pregnancy and new parenthood. Your gentle presence, phone calls, and words of love have meant the world to us. Despite how wonderful it is to have Amelie here...it has been an incredibly difficult time in countless ways that we don't often talk about (on line anyway) We're just starting to recover from all that has come our way...and those of you that have been with us on the journey feel like angels to us. Thank you for your love! We love you right back.

Image
November 14th-- nope Amelie wasn't a duck for Halloween! She was a bunny! She seemed pretty blaze about all the (hundreds) of people in costume in the Ashland parade...but I think she had fun looking around! We definitely had fun taking her to the pumpkin patch!! I don't remembere ever going to a pumpkin patch!! (a real one at a farm!) I am SO glad for small town living...everything seems so much sweeter here.

Image
November 7th--YES, she's said her first words! Here's the order: MAMA...which, I swear, she has been saying for a month now, DADA which she loves to say when Brian first comes home...and now DUCK!! Imagine that:-)

Image
October 8th-- Amelie is 6 Months old! HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY AMELIE!!! Yay! So exciting! Our girl is starting to eat rice cereal, banana, some mushed up apple, pear, veggies. So far she likes the veggies best, go figure. We took her to a workshop the other day, since we both wanted to go and don't leave her with anyone else yet...she turned out to be the bell of the ball! (and we were afraid we'd be disturbing people!) She is really amazing.

Standing girl!
Standing girl!
Sept 28th-- Amelie is almost 6 months old. I can't believe that! She big now and chubby-adorable as can be. She loves to be held up in standing position and can already hold herself up like that! Woh! I make sure she has lots of tummy time too so she learns to crawl too, but man it's funny seeing her upright! Soon she'll be mobile...and THEN we're in trouble!

Image
Sept 5th-- Amelie is 5 months old! WOW! She is changing, growing and doing new things every day! She can sit up now for a little while and is starting to push herself around on the floor...very exciting! She loves to explore now and wants to touch EVERYTHING. When she's really upset she says "MOM!" (I swear it's true!). She loves her baths even more lately and spends a lot of her time knocking toys into the tub or off the side..."fun!".
Brian and I are still getting used to all these big life changes and finally finding a little more time together and on our own to de-stress. (it  helps a LOT that Amelie is now a reliable night-time sleeper). It seems like we are slowly finding the support and community we have needed in this new town...and it's making ALL the difference.

Image
August 8th-- Green eyes and Reddish hair...definitely a "McBride"! Her coloring keeps changing but I have a feeling her eyes will stay green since they're the exact shade that Brian's are:-)

Image
July 27th-- Amelie is almost 4 months now! She is doing lots of pre-crawling stuff and is starting to get around her little toy blanket. Pretty cool! I take her out to eat (outdoor cafe by the river) and to the park a lot. She loves to be out and to listen to and look at people. She's making more sounds now and loves to "talk" when there are people talking around her...and "singing" when we sing to her!

Image
July 18th--Yes she is...a roley poley! She's getting from her tummy all the way around now. It's very exciting news in this household:-)

Image
July 1st-- Heads up! Not only is her head up...but she is gaining some good weight now. I love her chubby little face! She's hit the 3 month mark and is getting cuter and more smiley every day. She loves to hum, has discovered her hands (ooow hands!) and is reaching for things more-- especially mom's hair (she LOVES it)!

Image
June 18th-- 11 weeks old! Our girl is still working on fattening up but has come along way. She is sleeping longer in the night (thank goodness, for moms sake) and almost always has a huge smile on her face when she wakes up. She really loves nature -- looking at trees and water. She also LOVES the ceiling fan and will stare at it. But the funniest thing is that she will laugh when I show her a picture of herself and ask "who is that? Is that Amelie?"...it's really cute.

Image
June 8th-- Time flies where your having fun. I can't believe she's over 9 weeks now. She is healthy and adorable...though is still not gaining weight quite fast enough. We are working hard on getting her fattened up! She is a very smiley girl and LOVES to dance with mom and dad. We took an infant massage class and she really loves that too. She also loves her swing and wants to listen to lots of kinds of music.

Image
May 30th- Amelie is 8 weeks old! Wow!

Image
May 8th--May? How did it get to be May already!? Well, as expected the first month of mamma-hood (and pappa-hood) was been very busy and without much sleep. Amelie is 5 weeks old today and is finally sleeping slightly longer at night. (3 straight hours sometimes, woo!) She is still really little and we are still working on getting her fattened up. People often comment "Oh, she's so little!" when they see her. She is very healthy, though, and does love to eat. We are guessing that her beautiful steel blue eyes are going to stay that way, they show no signes of darkening yet. Mamma is slowly recovering from the surgery. It's a lot to recover from on top of the blissful but sleepless nights with our Amelie.

Image
April 19th-- Not much time to update at the moment (or even check e-mails!). Amelie is catching up on her weight so seems to eat nonstop lately. She is adorable as can be and we spend most of our time taking care of her and staring at her in wonderment:-) She is sleeping in my lap right now-- so I should really try to sleep too! Things feel much easier when mamma gets at least a little sleep...few. The lack of sleep is definitely the harderst part. I will keep posting pictures as time allows. She is SO cute!! (If I don't say so myself!)

Our bright eyed girl
Our bright eyed girl
April 11th--I finally have a moment to update a little...with more to come. Amelie is AMAZING with her bright open eyes (she has been this way since birth!) We are so grateful every day for her. The birth was very hard and ended in an emergency c-section, unfortunately. We were in the hospital an entire week so just came home easter Sunday. She is also very little so we are working hard to help her gain weight. I wouldn't trade a moment of any of it. She is so wonderful. Love to all...and check out the PHOTO ALBUMS page for pictures!

Image
April 10- AMELIE IS HERE!! -- arrived tuesday the 3rd -- is Beautiful as can be. More and pictures very soon.  LOVE, A

Image
April 1st: Yep, It's April! Amelie was little tricky last night and seemed like she would make it April 1st-- but in the end we are still at home. Brian and I are  getting to spend lots of great alone time together, which has been so nice for us. Maybe the fates are giving us a gift if we look at it the right way. As always, we'll let you know:-) Love to all...

Image
March 30th: Well, it seems that our little starlet is still in her own private dressing room-- getting spiffied up to make her debut! We may be heading for April 1st or after...no fooling.

Image
March 27th: We went to take more tests at the hospital yesterday. The signs I was having of pre-eclampsia are going away/ staying mild. Amelie is still moving all the time and is very healthy (the nurse we end up seeing a lot, Loraine, loves these results always exclaiming "I love these healthy babies!"). So, even though she is now technically 4 days late-- there is no reason to do anything but keep waiting in this paradoxical place. I am finding out that I may be very luck to have her be SO near the finish line for so long as it may make the final labor much easier. (as a lot of the work is being done slowly over these days and with sleep in between!)I will see my doctor again on Thursday (if not sooner). We are trying not to go insane and are taking it really easy until then...we'll keep you posted!

Image
March 24th: Yesterday was the due date and my birthday!
I think she wanted her own day because despite much movement in that direction she isn't here yet. (yes it's amazing and strange I'm updating a blog at the moment). :-) Today looks likely, but then again, there is not way of knowing! "You can't rush a miracle or you get rotten miracles"--Miracle Max

Image
March 19th: Another "non-stress test" today at the hospital--which went fine. She still a great mover! We had the weekly checkup things are all looking very good and progressing...so, now we're just waiting for the secret signal...anyone know it??

Image
March 14th: 9 days away? That simply can't be right?! Well, we know she is worth the wait and meanwhile-- we are thrilled that two (sets) of our friends have had two healthy babies! Welcome to the world Shifra Jessamine Worthington! and Welcome to the world Leo Fergus Kane! (We'd better get on the ball here, I know!) We'll keep you posted...

Image
March 9th: Well, our doctor was feeling unsure if Amelie was a bit small (as the measurements of my belly were small). I did not share this feeling though! haha! But I went to take some tests anyway which was a little stressful. It turns out that she is definitely not too small and is even a bit bigger than average for her weeks. In any case, she seems fully cooked! We're telling her that we're thrilled to see her whenever she's ready!

Image
March 9th: What Amelie's up to, Week 38!
  • If she is the "average baby," she weights 6.8 pounds (3083gm)and is 19.6 inches (49.8cm) long.
  • Have you noticed she hiccups a lot? Because there is no air around her, those breathing exercises cause amniotic fluid to get into her windpipe. The result? Hiccups!
  • Your child's intestines are accumulating lots of meconium. Meconium takes on the role of being your baby's first bowel movement -- removing the waste that has accumulated.
  • He may have a full head of hair now -- an inch or more long! Don't be surprised if it's an unexpected color. Some blond couples have dark haired babies; some dark haired couples have red-haired babies; some couples have babies with only peach fuzz! It may just persuade you to take a closer look at your family tree!
  • Circumference of head and abdomen are about the same size for your baby. No wonder it's so hard to get a t-shirt over a newborn's head!

Image
March 5th: We had a really beautiful blessing for Amelie yesterday!  Each person taking the time to speak their heart and welcome Amelie (in person, of from afar) meant so much to us both!

Image
Feb 27th: We really appreciate (and love) all the wishes, poems, thoughts, messages, quotes, and love sent for Amelie's blessing this coming Sunday. I know she hears them and feels them. The blessing is also just in time-- since the 3rd trimester is finally getting to me-- it's harder to do things and more tiring...shortness of breath, insomnia, headaches...oh the joys:-) But this is all normal and it means we are getting closer to meeting our girl.

Image
Feb 22nd: We woke up this morning to suddenly about 2 feet of snow and it's still snowing! If there was an emergency we could make our way down the hill but otherwise, practically speaking, we're snowed in-- FUN!! :)

Image
Feb  21st: Things are going well! Getting closer.
What Amelie's up to Week 36--
  • Your baby is almost ready and most likely, so are you! The only organ still to mature is the lungs. While certainly you are both growing anxious to meet, remember that each day (up to 42 weeks), that your little one stays within your womb will multiply his chances to breathe on his own.
  • If he hasn't already, this week your baby may drop into the birth canal. While breathing for mom becomes easier, walking may be the exact opposite! If he's not your first baby, this "lightening" may not occur until right before labor.
  • Fat is dimpling your baby's elbows and knees, and forming creases in the neck and wrists.
  • His skin is growing smooth and, shall we say it, "baby" soft.
  • His gums are very rigid. It won't be many months before you'll see his teeth.
  • She has a fully developed pair of kidneys and her liver has begun processing some waste products.
  • Your child's average size is now 18.66 inches (47.4cm) and 5.78 pounds (2622 g). Between now and birth she will gain about an ounce a day!

  • Image
Feb 18th: Today is my sisters Birthday--
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERICA!

    Image
Feb 16th: Week 35, what Amelie's up to this week:
  • The average baby weighs almost five and a half pounds now.
  • Most babies born now will survive and without many long-term problems.
  • Fat accumulations plumps up the arms and legs this week. These layers of fat will help him regulate his body temperature. They also provide those cute little dimples on elbows and knees!
  • Her hearing is fully developed, so be sure to talk to your daughter. Do you find yourself speaking in a high-pitched tone? That's okay since some studies show babies respond better to higher pitches.
  • It's getting crowded! Your baby is now taking up most of the uterus and you may even feel like your chest has run out of room! Soon enough though, baby will move down and you'll be able to breathe easily again (just not walk so easily! Ha!).
  • Your baby is 18.2 inches (46.2cm) long and weighs 5.3 pounds (2383gm).

  • Image
Feb 14th: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!
Brian is taking the day off to hang out and we are spending our day running errands for Amelie in the morning-- and going to a snazzy Ashland dinner theater in the evening. We had another doctor visit and everything is going fine --accept I've finally got that swelling thing, yuck. Amelie is hanging out head down and sideways which is perfectly great for her at 35 weeks. Happy love day!

    Image
Feb 10th: I had a dream a few nights ago that Amelie was on her way. I woke up Brian and told him get the bags and make sure we had everything! He said "uh...ok" and started doing stuff...it took me at least 15 minutes to realize that it was a dream. I'm telling her to stay at least another week or so (if not 6!)...We want her fully cooked:-)

    Image
Feb 7th: 34 Weeks now and very excited already:-) No big news, other than that I'm getting bigger and bigger. The birthing classes so far have been review since I've read so much. But that's fine-- since it just helps me feel confident. This weekend we're continuing to make sure we've gathered what we need and that our house is ready enough. Packing the bags and all that stuff!

    Image
Feb 1st: 33 Weeks now! Things are going well and we are busy racing to prepare-- seems like endless things to do and that we need for her! Starting the official birthing classes tonight at the birthing center (we should have been in last months classes but there was NO ROOM! so we hope Amelie can hang on until we at least take a few classes:-)) IF she is on time-- she will be here in only 6 weeks! If she is early she could be here healthily in as little as 2 weeks! Amelie is very active and responsive-- she will respond to music, voices and will litterally play games with us (we tap in and she kicks, etc)

    Image
Jan 23rd: How time flies-- almost at 32 weeks now and according to the ultrasound may be farther along than that. (though we're sticking to the original due date). It's very exciting though! I"m doing my best to avoid anything stressful and do as much soothing stuff as possible, like baths and walking. We took a few more pictures-- it's nice to imagine Amelie having them someday and knowing how loved she was even before she was born.

    Image
Jan 20th: I posted the new ultrasound pictures of Amelie. Everything is going well in there. She is already head down and getting bigger, that's for sure.
    Week Thirty-One
    • The rate of physical growth slows down just a bit, but even though she doesn't get much longer, she will gain a lot of weight the rest of the pregnancy.
    • Fat continues accumulating. This layer of fat turns her skin from red to the rosy pink she will have as a newborn.
    • Calcium, phosphorus and iron are being stored and his bones are growing and hardening.
    • Your baby is 16.2 inches (41.1cm) long and weighs 3.3 pounds (1502gm)
    • His brain enters another period of rapid growth, producing hundreds of billions of new nerve cells! Amazing!
    • She may move to the rhythm of music. Studies with heart rates show that she also prefers some types of music to others -- already!
    • Lungs are the only major organ left to complete development. Remember, that while you may be anxious to meet your little one that these last few weeks can be vital - with each day increasing your baby's ability to breathe on her own.

    Image
Jan 16th: We went to the doctor today. Blood sugar is going well...some small concerns about the cramping and other stuff but nothing too worry-some. He scheduled me for an an ultrasound for this Thursday, SO-- We'll get to see our favorite little person again! We will post the pictures when we get them:-)

    Image
Jan 14th: Hi all! Due to a couple of requests I've updated the gift registry with a list of things we 'have' and things we 'need'. Thank you so much for asking and for supporting us!
ALSO-- I've started having Braxton Hicks contractions...which just feel like cramps and don't necessarily mean anything. Still, I'll check it out when I see my doctor in a few days (info on braxton hicks
    http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/braxtonhicks/)

    Image
Jan 11th: What Amelie's up to this week (WEEK 30)
    • Did you know your baby is nearly three pounds now?
    • His head is getting larger to accommodate a period of rapid brain growth. Don't forget to continue to "teach" your baby in the womb by exposing to music, literature, and simply talking to him.
    • A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him. As he grows and fills your uterus, the amount of amniotic fluid will decrease. Funny, you certainly won't feel any lighter!
    • She spends more and more time practicing opening and closing eyelids. Her eyes can move from side to side, following a light source. She may even reach out to touch the light.
    • Early lanugo is beginning to disappear that served to protect your baby's skin from the water in the womb. Your little one's own hair may begin to appear.
    • Toenails are entering their final growth stage.
    • Bone marrow is now in charge of red blood cell production. These red blood cells will continue to service your child's body by transporting oxygen and removing the wastes (carbon monoxide and other gases).
    • Your baby has the capability now to produce tears -- yes, within the womb.
    • By the end of this week, your baby is now 15.7 inches (39.9cm) long and weighs 2.91 pounds (1319gm).

    Image
Jan 10th: 30 Weeks!! The blood sugar seems to be going fine this week and I'm feeling pretty good! I love the Prenatal Water Exercise class and am also starting to connect with more mamma's here-- that all feels good. Brian is working hard in Vegas this week-- can't wait for him to come home:-)Amelie misses his voice.

    Image
JAN 2nd 2007: We had a nice quiet new years eve and things are going well. I took another 1 hour glucose test today which was again high but not completely conclusive...so...it drags on and I'm going to be sticking myself at home 3x a day for blood now. JUST to be certain that I don't need insulin. Its a drag but it's not so bad. (again, could be WAY worse:-)) And in other Amelie news...we are at 28 weeks so we get to count Amelies kicks...which should be no problem as she kicks a lot.

    Image
    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

    Image
Dec 27th: I tried to take the 3 hour glucose test today in the hospital-- but started throwing up after about 50 minutes...yeeeesh. They had to stop the test and I saw my doctor. They will try one more (milder test) next tuesday and will have a final diagnosis.

Other than that...we are all doing fine. We had a nice holiday  and are both reading a lot and preparing a lot for Amelie!
She is kicking even more now.

    Image
Dec 23rd: I tested high for Gestational Diabetes yesterday in a glucose tolerance test. Difficult news for us. I'm going for more elaborate tests on Wednesday to find out HOW high and how serious it is. I'm not taking it lightly, in that I'm changing my diet right away and upping my exercise (time not intensity). We hope it will test only mild and that we can make a difference with careful diet (avoiding isulin, birth complicaitons, and health complications for Amelie). It is scary and sad for us and we'll do the best we can with what we've got. Hopefully the next post will be better news:-)

    Image
Dec 22nd: What is a doula? (a few people have asked us). A doula is not a midwife or a doctor who will make medical decisions. She is also not a person to help cook and clean or nanny once the baby arrives:-) Our lovely doula, Fuscia, will be helping Brian and I prepare for the birth, learn about birthing,  help  create our birth plan, be an advocate for us at the birth, stay present with us during the birth, help with relaxation and pain relief, and be support for us (the mom and dad) during the process.
We feel very fortunate to have Fuscia with us who is the mother of 5, grandmother of 4, a hakomi therapist, and simply a glowing presence to be around. Yay Doulas!

    Image
Dec 20th:  Good news! We found a great doula. We met with her today to talk and are very excited about her! Bad news: emergency dental work tomorrow--eeek.

Dec 18th: Well, I haven't been feeling great lately-- and am huge:-) Went to the doctor and there was some elevation in my protein levels and blood pressure...so am going back to test again. I don't have some of the other symptoms but the worry is preeclampsia. At this stage (early) that would be especially bad. I will post again after my next visit (friday the 22nd) when I'll know more. Hopefully the tests will come out fine, Brian says don't worry 'till it happens...that's the news. A

    Image
December 8th: Our Girl is still cooking...maybe even more so this week since she was the youngest being ever to have a Hakomi session. How cool is she-- already working on her "Stuff"! haha! I have been doing some Hakomi trainings(body oriented therapy/ mindfulness) and Amelie and I had a session during the training-- it was really beautiful. He asked me a question and she would kick, it was very funny:-) And really, The kindness in that room has helped me immensely. PLUS!! It looks like we've found a doula we feel good about...stay tuned:-)

our deck in the snow! Ashland, Oregon:-)
November 28th: I woke up early this morning and happened to look outside... to find the most beautiful snowy view of my deck, tree's, and beyond. I've never lived in a place were it snowed before-- at my HOUSE! It is sooooooooo pretty.
I got so excited and ran outside so fast that I puked (being pregnant and all) But it was worth it:-)

Amelie is doing well and kicking up a storm! She loves music, and I swear its true-- especially Mozart. Even with pregnancy ups and downs, luckily everything has turned out fine so far. We will be 24 weeks/ 6 months this wednesday!

part of our town-- light up...

November 25th: We had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday with friends:-) Meant to take pictures but forgot...but will take more soon. The Amelie belly is getting huge at just about 6 months now. We went to an crafts fair this morning and are looking forward to Ashlands "Festival of Lights" parade and town lighting this evening!

    Happy Halloween!
    Happy Halloween!
November 2nd: We had a fun hallowween-- most everyone in the town dressed up, it was so great. Brian is suddenly fascinated with watching babies and little kids, imagine that;-)
Doctor visit again-- things are going well and I really like our doctor (Dr.Delgato). I'm planning to interview Doula's this week, which is exciting for me! I feel a little worried about my support system, having just moved. I'm starting prenatal yoga and also birthing class next week so I  imgaine we 'll meet a few more people that way! Also, I"m really happy that our friends Sara and Dune just moved here (yesterday!) hurrrayyyyy!!

    October 24th:
19 week ultrasound today which is always really fun for us to see! She is definitely bigger, and SO is my belly!! Pictures of both newly posted in the photo albums page:-) AND...and...and!!!
    She is OFFICIALLY A GIRL:-)

    October 22nd:
I felt our little tiny girl kick last night for the first time! (and kick and kick) Also...getting close to having a name! We found one we really like and are sitting with it for a few weeks before we decide 'for sure'.

    October 18th:
I just updated this site with family page, pictures, and more registry info:-) Can't wait to have real pictures too  of our little girl!

    October 16th:
Our baby (girl?) is looking VERY healthy! In our ultrasound one week ago she was moving around the while time (a fantastic sign)! The technician said looks very likely to be a GIRL! Though we have to doulbe check at the next ultrasound to be sure. So we'll confirm in 2 more weeks. We are settling into our new house still. It is very peaceful here on our deck with all the tree's around. A bit lonely since I don't feel plugged into the community quite yet. Still sick a lot so also hard to get out.

    September 29th:
We are moving to Ashland in only one week!
We will SO miss our friends in the bay area and at the same time can't wait to just get there and get settled.
I really can't wait for the stress of the move to be over--so I can just concentrate on baby, nesting, and nutrition!

    September 12th:
We went to the doctor and got more confirmation that things are going great with our little one. They have a little device that lets you hear the heartbeat so we got to hear his/her heartbeat with mine…It was very touching and great to hear. He/she was moving around a lot and we got to hear him/her kick.In 5 weeks we take a full diagnostic ultrasound where they check that all the organs have formed correctly…And we will then also know if we can paint pink flowers or blue sailboats!

    Our Sappy Prgnancy Story:
Well, Venice must really BE the most romantic place on earth! When we came back from our trip I was all knocked up!

We didn't realize it untill a few weeks later though, when I was a little late and very casually took a test "just in case". We'd been trying to get pregnant for 6 months already but still it didn't really occur to me that I WOULD be this time:-) I teared up as soon as I saw the word Pregnant on the test! Wow!

When Brian got home that day I gave him a beautifully wrapped present that I said I'd brought back to him from Italy. He opened it-- and found the pregnancy test saying "Pregnant". He looked at me with the biggest grin, got really teary and said "realy?". I took another test right away, we watched it say pregnant together, and I turned to him and said "really". We quite possibly may have stared at eachother with tears in our eyes for the rest of the day:-)
